Uncle's Barbeque Sauce is an old family recipe that started with Paul Voorhies in the 60's.
Paul loved to barbeque and combined two
recipes, one from Barron Gray, his father-in-law and the other from his Uncle
Buck Marse. He later shared the recipes with his brother Walter.
Walter experimented with the recipes and perfected the sauce.
Walter started
barbequing in the early 90's for various school and civic fundraisers, using the
sauce whenever possible. He cooks over 10,000 chicken dinners a year as
well as 3,000 to 4,000 sausage po-boys.
Walter has competed in several
cook-offs in the last four years, gaining notoriety in Louisiana and
Texas. He attributes the success to a good cooking team, a little luck,
and great Barbeque Sauce. Walter & his cooking team have racked up the
following:
4) 1st place trophies - New Iberia
Jaycees Annual BBQ Cook-off
with ribs, chicken, brisket, and sauce. 2) 1st place trophies - Albertson's
Big Brother/Big Sister of
Acadiana BBQ competition with ribs and sauce 2nd Place - Best of Show with ribs in
Liberty, Texas
Uncle's is a blend of hot and
sweet. We use habanero peppers, " the hottest pepper known to
man", with a flavor that is unmatched. We soften the peppery
kick with pure raw brown sugar made in South Louisiana. The sauce
is packed with plenty of onions and garlic. Uncle's is a smooth
sauce with great texture - a perfect
compliment to complete your BBQ and meats. It's great on chicken,
ribs, brisket, burgers, sausage and seafood.
We suggest trying it
on anything!
